History
Ek and Dave(Ek is from a local Thai family, born on Koh Chang, while Dave
is of Welsh-Canadian origin) founded their original hotel resort in 1998 on
a prime piece of beachside property on Koh Chang 's most desirable beach, White
Sand Beach. Named in honour of their new baby daughter, Alina, the hotel was
an immediate success. With its charming, family-style approach, personal service
and friendly staff, Ek and Dave (and little Alina) soon found their resort becoming
a favourite with locals and tourists alike.

The Beach

Welcome to Central Samui Beach Resort
Four years later, Ek and Dave purchased the property across the road, and
plans began for their new expansion, Alina Grande. With every detail designed
with the comfort of their guests in mind, Alina Grande opened in early 2006,
and continues to grow and thrive, while never losing the personal touch that
Alina Grande Hotel and Resort is known for.

jungle from one of their island camps, and learn more about these intelligent
and noble creatures.

The development on Koh Chang is confined to the villages and coastal road, so
there is plenty of unspoiled wilderness to explore. The jungle is home to numerous

birds such as great hornbills, eagles and many more.
Many streams run through the rainforest, and waterfalls abound. Our knowledgable

hiker.

By Road
There are two main driving routes from Bangkok, both around 310 km long.
The first route is to take Highway 3, the Bangna - Trat road. There is a quicker
elevated toll way running above Highway 3.Continue until the Chonburi Bypass
and here turn off onto Highway 344.Follow this road past Ban Bung and when you
reach the Klaeng Crossroads turn back on to Highway 3 and continue on towards
Trat.
Alternatively you can leave Bangkok on the Motorway that is a continuation
of the Rama IX, Srinakarin road. This road goes onwards and meets highway 344
where you can continue to Trat as detailed above.
To avoid Trat and go directly to the ferry departure points turn right onto
the well sign posted Laem Ngop road about 20 km outside Trat.
There are 2 piers (Thammachat and Centre Point Ferry) where you can take
a passenger and car ferry to Koh Chang. Both are safe and run yearly. The time
varies from 30 - 45 minutes. They both run hourly or more often during the peak
season.
By Air
There are 3 daily flights from Bangkok to Trat run by Bangkok Airways. Flying
time takes about 40 minutes. Go to www.bangkokair.com for flight rates and schedules.
